Programm

Guidelines for the new metro line in Turin, Italy.
Complete design of the new stations.

The design brief

Creation of a new 28 kilometer-long automatic metro line.
The challenge consists of taking into account: the technical problems tied to an existing city environment, the economics of a standardized overall approach to the design while personalizing each station.
It was also important to respect the city’s overall character.

The project

The design of a public facility, which offers qualities similar to those of Turin’s “noble” urban spaces.
A metro line with cohesive architecture while maintaining its strong and innovative identity.
A calm, sober, yet varied atmospheres, which rely on the quality of light, the readability of the spatial progressions, as well as visual and acoustical comfort.
Participative design process through a strong collaboration with elected officials, the city administration, city planners, architects, engineers.
